A gang of car lifters active in Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh was busted in Gurgaon, police said on Wednesday.
Yogesh and Nitin from Sirsa district were arrested by Crime Branch, Palam Vihar, while trying to sell a stolen car near Kherki Daula in Gurgaon April 15, 2013.
"During interrogation, they confessed to their involvement in several cases of car thefts in Delhi, NCR and other states," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rajesh Duggal said.
On their disclosure, gang leader Ravi Kumar was arrested on Tuesday from Matiyala village in Delhi. Raghubir alias Sahil from Kurukshetra was also nabbed.
Over a dozen stolen cars were recovered from them.
"They used registration papers of cars that had been involved in major accidents from insurance agencies. They would change the engine and chassis number of stolen cars and sell them at market rates," Duggal added.
