Husband warded off those who wanted to help with a butcher's knife
A young woman was paraded naked by her husband who held a knife in his hand to ensure nobody intervened for nearly an hour on Tuesday in the Nizamabad town of Telangana, 140 kilometres from the state capital of Hyderabad.
The 26-year-old's husband claimed he was "punishing" her for refusing to help him sell items that he had stolen. He has been arrested and charged with attempt to murder.
He was seen dragging her by her hair for nearly a kilometre. When bystanders urged him to stop, he warned them not to come any closer, threatening to attack them with his knife.
At one point, the woman jumped into a pond to escape him, but he followed her, and dragged her out again. Finally, a few policemen overpowered the man, who was drunk, and arrested him.
