Heavy rains lash capital, traffic movement hit

New DelhiHeavy rains and hailstorm lashed the national capital today, throwing traffic out of gear in many parts of the city and bringing back the problem of waterlogging.

The showers, which started at around 11 pm yesterday, continued throughout the day and the cloud cover resulted in the minimum temperature rising by over a degree.

The rain gauges measured 21 mm of rain till 8:30 am. The showers increased traffic jams in the city, which had received light rains on Thursday morning.

Vehicular movement was affected in several areas, including ITO, Vikas Marg and South Extension.

The minimum temperature rose to 11.3 degree Celsius, four degrees above normal and up from yesterday's 9.7 degrees.

The Weatherman has predicted more rains and thunderstorm in the capital tomorrow.
