Harassed by stalker in Kanpur, student kills herself

Kanpur: Harassed by a stalker, a 20-year-old woman committed suicide in Kanpur by consuming poison on Thursday. The man, accused of stalking her, has been arrested.

The woman, a final year undergraduate student from Bhadwal village of Kanpur Dehat, consumed poison the day before and died in hospital on Thursday morning.

Pradeep, who used to harass her when she returned home from college, was arrested in the evening, Derapur Station House Officer RK Saxena told IANS.

On the complaint of the victim's family, a case of assault or criminal force with intent to outrage modesty was slapped on the accused, police said.
