A Haryana Police sub-inspector posted in Gurgaon was on Saturday suspended for allegedly being drunk and misbehaving with the public, including a legislator, police said.
Surender Singh, deployed near the Zila Sainik Board, allegedly misbehaved with people including some women. He forced two women, earlier booked under the immoral traffic act, standing near the gate of a hotel to leave the place, said a police officer who did not wish to be named.
Naresh Sharma, a Congress legislator from Badli in Jhajjar district, tried to intervene and then informed senior officers about the incident.
"Nobody complained in writing against the accused officer but he was suspended as in his medical examination he was found to have consumed alcohol," Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Surender Pal Singh told IANS.
No FIR was registered against the suspended officer.
