Gurgaon businessman allegedly commits suicide, in-laws booked for harassment

Gurgaon: A 35-year-old businessman allegedly committed suicide in Gurgaon after accusing his wife and her parents of harassing him, police said today. Six of his in-laws were charged with abetment to suicide.

Amit Garg, a resident of Mandi Govindgarh in Punjab's Fatehgarh Sahib district, consumed poison and died on Monday.

The coal businessman, who got married in February this year, had come to Gurgaon to meet his maternal uncle.

"Amit consumed poison at his uncle's house in Kendriya Vihar. He was rushed to a hospital and died during treatment," police official Pradeep Singh told IANS.

"The deceased left a suicide note blaming his wife and her parents for his extreme step," Mr Singh said.

"I was badly harassed by my wife and his family. I have no other option but to end my life," the suicide note read.
