Mumbai: A local football player was killed in a road mishap at Parel on Friday afternoon after he fell under a speeding Asiad bus that crushed his head.

"Ramesh Lobo, 23, of Kalina was returning home on his bike after a football match when the accident occurred at 3.30 pm. He was taken to KEM Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. We have informed his parents," said senior inspector Vikram Patil of Bhoiwada police station.

Lobo had suddenly applied the breaks when he noticed a stationary taxi in front of him. He was unable to control his bike and fell down. He came under the bus, proceeding towards Sion. Lobo is the only son of his parents. The bus was going to Bagmandl in coastal Raigad from Mumbai Central.
