FBI offers help in Jiah Khan suicide case

Jiah Khan was found hanging in her Mumbai apartment in June

Mumbai: The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has offered help to the Mumbai Police its investigation into the alleged suicide of actress Jiah Khan.

"We have received a communication from the FBI and we have forwarded the communication to the Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) of the Mumbai Police for appropriate action", Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Spokesperson Kanchan Prasad told NDTV.

The Mumbai Police Crime Branch says that being a nodal agency they have received a letter from the FBI through the CBI offering help in the investigation in the case. The local police will be asked for their opinion and a reply will be sent thereafter.

Ms Khan's mother had met US Consulate officials as the actress was an American citizen. She had alleged that her daughter was murdered but the police have found no evidence to support her claim. Actor Aditya Pancholi's son, Suraj Pancholi, who was in a relationship with Ms Khan, has been charged with abetting suicide.

A 500 page charge-sheet has been filed in a court in the case. Meanwhile, Ms Khan's family plans to approach the Bombay High Court to press for an investigation by the CBI or a Special Investigation Team.

The 25-year-old actress was found hanging in her Mumbai apartment in June last year. She made her Bollywood debut in Nishabdh opposite Amitabh Bachchan.
