Erode: Forest Department Deputes 100 Officials to Catch Man-Eating Leopard

Erode, Tamil Nadu: About one hundred forest department personnel have been deputed to trace and catch a man-eating leopard which has killed two persons in Thimbam forest area.

Forest officials in Erode said on Sunday that the officials equipped with fire arms and mobile sets have been divided into several groups and will be roaming in the area. If any of the group noticed the movement of the animal, they would alert other groups about it.

Already two cages have been kept in two different places in Thimbam area to trap the leopard.

They also said the CCTV footages of the cameras showed the movement of the leopard which is still in Thimbam area. Two wheeler movements are also banned in the area between 6-00 PM and 6-00 AM and riders of two wheelers were advised not to go alone but in groups, they said.
