Delhi: Three convicted for gang-rape, murder of girl

New Delhi: A Delhi court today convicted three youths for kidnapping, gang-raping and murdering a 19-year-old girl whose mutilated and decomposed body was recovered from a Haryana village in 2012.

"You have been convicted under Section 363 (kidnapping), 376(2)(g)(gang-rape) and 302 (murder) of the IPC," Additional Sessions Judge Virender Bhat said while pronouncing the verdict in a jam-packed courtroom.

The court fixed February 17 for arguments on quantum of sentence.

The victim's family had sought death sentence for all the three convicts. All three, Vinod, Ravi and Rahul were arrested and booked for the offences of kidnapping, gang-rape and murder.

According to the prosecution, the girl was kidnapped by the three youths in a car near her house in Qutub Vihar in Delhi and was gang-raped and murdered by them on February 9, 2012.

Prosecutor Satwinder Kaur told the court that the victim's mutilated body was found three days after the incident from a mustard field in Rodhai village in Haryana's Rewari district.

Kaur said the convicts had poured acid into the victim's eyes, inserted a broken liquor bottle into her private parts and then left her there to die.

The girl was kidnapped by the three youths, who were also residing in her area, when she along with three colleagues was coming back from her Gurgaon office, the prosecutor said.

The men had dragged the victim into their car and sped away.
