Delhi: Rain during morning rush hour leads to traffic chaos
New Delhi: Delhi and its suburb Gurgaon today witnessed early morning showers as people headed to work. The rain during morning rush hour led to traffic chaos.

The sky was dark till late in the morning and that led some people to comment on Twitter, "it's 10 am but feels like dusk." "Heavy Rain in Delhi during morning rush hour. Stuck in traffic,Metro station shut@ArvindKejriwal ,Aam Admi  suffering. Sorry, Voted 4 AAP," tweeted Sunil Kapoor.

The Met Office has forecast rain throughout the day.

"There will be light rain and thunder showers Tuesday with the day remaining cloudy," said an official of the India Meteorological Department.

Some people took shelter under metro stations.

"The day was gloomy but the rain was not expected. I am totally drenched in a five-minute rickshaw ride from the metro station to office," said Riedh Sarkar, who works in an IT firm in Gurgaon.

The minimum temperature was recorded three notches above the season's average at 10.2 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 20 degrees Celsius.

The sudden winter rain and bad weather threaten to disrupt Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's protest against the Delhi Police, but the Aam Aadmi Party leader said his protest will continue until Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde agrees to his demand to suspend three policemen for dereliction of duty.

Last night, the CM, his six ministers and about 200 workers of his Aam Aadmi Party slept on the roadside near Rail Bhawan in the heart of Delhi, where security has been tightened for Republic Day celebrations on Sunday.
