New Delhi: The Delhi Metro on Wednesday signed an agreement with the Noida authority for the construction of a Metro corridor to help connect Noida with various areas in the national capital.

The corridor between Kalindi Kunj and Botanical Garden in Noida, which is a 3.9 km long elevated section, will be a part of the Metro's Phase III corridor connecting Janakpuri West and Botanical Garden.

The section which consists of two stations - Okhla Bird Sanctuary and Botanical Garden - will connect Noida with Delhi areas like Jamia Millia Islamia, Kalkaji, Okhla, Nehru Place, Hauz Khas, R.K. Puram, Munirka, Vasant Vihar, the Indira Gandhi International Airport - domestic terminal, Palam and Janakpuri.

As per the project report, about 48,500 commuters are expected to use this section in 2017.

"The Botanical Garden station will emerge as the first interchange Metro station in the National Capital Region outside the boundaries of Delhi city. This station will provide interchange between the currently operational Noida City Centre - Dwarka Sector 21 and the upcoming Janakpuri West - Botanical Garden corridor," a statement said.
