Delhi: Mercury Dips as Parts of City Receive Rain

Rain lashes parts of Delhi on Sunday afternoon

New Delhi: After reeling under hot and humid conditions since Friday, Delhiites finally breathed a sigh of relief on Sunday as parts of the capital received rain bringing the mercury down a few notches.

According to forecasts by the Indian Metrological Department officials, rain was expected in the capital today and is likely to occur tomorrow as well.

The monsoon has been active over Bihar, Jharkhand and some northeastern states, though the deficiency still remains at 43 per cent. Out of 36 meteorological sub-divisions, the rainfall has been deficient in over 20 and normal only in over 5, the MeT department said.

The South-west monsoon hit the capital on Thursday evening, but the city has not received normal monsoon yet. According to the weather department, last week's monsoon data shows Delhi is 63 per cent monsoon deficient.

On Saturday, the maximum temperature settled two notches above the season's average at 38.6 Degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature was recorded at 28 Degrees Celsius.
