Delhi: Heroin worth Rs 60 lakh seized, one arrested

New Delhi: One person has been arrested for alleged drug trafficking and heroin with street value of about Rs 60 lakh seized from his possession.

Harish Yadav (22), who belongs from Rajasthan, was arrested on the basis of a tip off and 600 gm of fine quality heroin recovered from him, poilce said today.

Yadav was caught yesterday from near GPO Kashmiri Gate, New Delhi, after receiving information that he would come there to allegedly to sell the contraband after procuring it from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, Delhi police said.

"A team led was constituted. The information (tip) was further developed and a trap was laid at the expected place.

"At the instance of the informer, one person namely Harish Yadav (22 years) was apprehended and 600 gm of fine quality heroin having international value of estimated Rs 60 lakh was recovered from his possession," the police said.

A case under the NDPS Act has been registered, it said.

According to the police, he is a high school drop out and was lured by a friend Ravi into drug trafficking owing to the financial crisis faced by his family.

Further investigation is on, the police said.
