Delhi gang-rape survivor Amanat's friend, also attacked, meets her in hospital: report

New Delhi: For the first time, 23-year-old Amanat (not her real name) met in hospital last night with her friend who tried to protect her when the couple was attacked on a bus in Delhi on Sunday night.

Amanat's friend, a software engineer, was beaten on the head. She was hit with the same rod and gang-raped. The couple was then thrown onto the road by the six men who attacked them; all of them have been arrested.

During last night's five-minute visit in hospital, where Amanat is in critical condition, her friend informed her of the progress in police investigations, her brother told the Press Trust of India.

He reportedly said that Amanat had repeatedly been asking about her friend's condition since Sunday's  heinous attack.
