Delhi: 15-year-old girl allegedly raped by neighbour

New Delhi: A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 32-year-old neighbour after he took her to Rajasthan on the pretext of buying her expensive gifts, police said today.

The class nine student lives in New Ashok Nagar area of East Delhi. The accused, identified as Waseem, lived close to her house as a tenant of one of the victim's relatives.

"As the girl used to visit her relatives, she became friendly with Wasim. On February 17, Wasim took the girl to Anand Vihar railway station from where they boarded a train to Gangapur, Rajasthan, after he promised her new and expensive clothes," said a police official.

Wasim then allegedly confined the girl at a guest house there and raped her. When she resisted, he even beat her.

He then fled the spot leaving the girl behind, who somehow returned to Delhi on February 18 and called her parents from an STD booth, police said.

As she had gone missing on February 17, her family had already lodged a complaint of kidnapping in this regard. Her family took her to the police station, following which she was sent for a medical examination which confirmed rape.

A case under sections of rape and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) was registered and a hunt launched to apprehend Wasim, who is a resident of Rajasthan, police said.
