Aligarh: A seven-year-old girl, who is caught in a bitter custody battle between her parents, faced the most insensitive treatment from the Aligarh police.
Armed policemen in uniforms from three police stations stormed into her father's house at 11 in the night on Thursday and forcibly took her to the women's police station.
The girl was reduced to tears and tried to resist the cops. Sudha Singh, a lady police officer, who was leading the search, said she was only executing orders handed down to her by the district Superintendent of Police.
The girl ran inside the temple in her house and refused to leave. She finally gave up and was taken to the women's police station and handed over to her mother. The entire ordeal for the little girl lasted for more than three hours.
What's shocking here is that the police team did not even have a search warrant or any order from the courts to look for the girl. Rules also prohibit such search operations by the police after sunset. The police are supposed to be dressed in plain clothes and should not carry weapons while dealing with a minor.
