Chandigarh Cop Dragged for Nearly a Kilometre After Trying to Stop a Driver
Chandigarh: In the second such incident in less than a month, a traffic policeman in Chandigarh was allegedly dragged for nearly a kilometre by a luxury car today after he asked its driver to stop at a check point.

The incident happened around 6 pm near an industrial area in the city when the constable, in his 30s, allegedly signaled to the driver of the Chevrolet Cruze to halt his car after finding that the latter was not wearing his seat belt. The driver allegedly tried to run him over. The constable then allegedly jumped on the bonnet of the car to avoid being hit. But the accused allegedly sped away, dragging the cop for nearly a kilometre before being apprehended. He has been arrested.

The cop has sustained minor injuries.

On August 14, a traffic policeman was seriously injured after he was dragged by a luxury car for over 500 metres in the city. The cop, Devinder Singh, had tried to stop the driver who was talking on his mobile phone. Police officials alleged that the two men in the car were drunk at the time of the incident.
