Case registered for threatening woman traffic warden in Kochi

Kochi: A case has been registered under some sections of the Indian Penal Code against a man who verbally abused a woman traffic police warden at a traffic junction in Kochi after threatening and hitting her, police said today.

According to the complaint lodged by the warden, the driver of the car came twice to the place where she was managing traffic this afternoon and hurled abuses at her.

He came out of the vehicle, pulled her shirt out and hit her, saying he was "DCC President and will not allow her to continue," police said.

Cases under various IPC sections including 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) have been registered against the unidentified person.

Police are on the lookout for the man whose car number has been traced.
