The incident took place yesterday at the Institute of Science and Technology after the college break when a group of 10-15 seniors attacked Sarthak William with iron rods and a baseball bat when he did not comply with their dictates, they said.

Following the incident, Sarthak suffered serious leg fractures and multiple injuries on his body, ASP Rakesh Kumar Singh said quoting the hospital report.

The victim was taken to the Bombay Hospital with serious limb injuries and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Singh said adding his condition is stable now.

A case under Anti-ragging Act was registered against five persons after an FIR was lodged by the college late last night, he said.

No one has been arrested so far in this connection, police said, adding till the victim recovers and identifies the culprits, it will take time to investigate the case.
