Anti-encroachment drive continues in Noida

Noida: Amid heavy security, the Noida authority today continued its anti-encroachment drive taking action against several temporary shops here.

Some shop owners tried to resist the drive in Sector 18, but police team chased away the protesters, sources said. Hoarding and tin sheds set up by several shop owners were demolished in Atta market in Sector 18 and Harola.

The authority team also removed several encroachments from Sector 1 to 9.

Several footpaths which were blocked by shop owners in these areas were also cleared by the authority team.

A policeman was injured yesterday when a mob pelted stones during an anti-encroachment drive by the authority in sector 9 and 10, prompting police to resort to force to disperse the gathering.

Noida and Greater Noida CEO Rama Raman said the drive will continue to ensure the removal of all encroachments.

At Greater Noida, he held a meeting with departmental officials and prepared a plan to remove encroachments and demolish the unauthorised colonies.
