Coimbatore:
Police have registered cases against 55 persons and seized 509 liquor bottles from different parts in the district for selling liquor on 'dry day' on Friday, police said today.
In a crackdown, 31 persons were arrested by Prohibition Enforcement Wing officials from various places in rural limits and 266 bottles of liquor, 10 litres of toddy besides Rs 3,650 in cash seized. Two motorcycles were impounded.
Police seized 243 bottles of liquor and Rs.2,220 and registered cases against 24 persons in Coimbatore .
After imposing the fine, all were released on bail, police said.
