22-year-old woman found murdered in foster mother's home in Delhi

New Delhi A 22-year-old woman was murdered in the house of her foster mother in Delhi today.

According to police, Poonam - a resident of east Delhi's Mandawali locality - was found with her throat slit in her foster mother Munni's home in east Delhi's Chander Vihar around 5.15 pm.

"The incident was reported by Munni, who found Poonam lying in a pool of blood inside the house. The main door of the house was found ajar when Munni came back from the market. A case of murder has been registered," said a police officer.

Initial inquiries revealed that Poonam was killed by some known person as there was no sign of forced entry into the house or any ransacking suggesting robbery motive behind the murder, said the officer.

The victim's parents live in east Delhi's Mandawali area and she had been living with Munni since her childhood, police said.
