14-Year-Old Bengal Girl Allegedly Raped, Murdered in Bhutan; Violence in Her Village

Kolkata: Villagers in North Bengal's Chamurchi, which borders Bhutan, blocked the international road, attacked a police vehicle and set a private car on fire after the body of a 14-year-old Indian girl was found from a house across the Bhutan border.

According to the police, the girl had gone from her home in Jalpaiguri district across the Bhutan border on Friday to work in a house there as a domestic help. She was supposed to return in the evening but did not.

On Saturday, Bhutan police informed her family that the girl was unwell, the police said, adding that the parents were taken to the house in Bhutan where they found the body of their daughter, with injury marks on her body. The family was given Rs 10,000 and escorted back to their village with the girl's body at 2 am, the police said.

The girl's family has alleged that she was raped and murdered.

When villagers heard about the incident, they went on the rampage. A huge police force is on the spot.
