12-year-old commits suicide in Delhi

New Delhi: A 12-year-old class 5 student committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan inside his home here, police said on Monday.

Rohit, who stayed in east Delhi's Trilokpuri along with his mother and two younger siblings, was found hanging inside his house around at 8.30 pm on Sunday by his mother.

He studied in a nearby government school and his mother works as a domestic help.

"His mother found him hanging when she returned from her work. No suicide note was recovered from the spot. Victim's body has been sent for post mortem to ascertain the exact cause of his death as police could not find out the reason behind his extreme step," a police official said.
