Aditya Thackeray Like a Little Brother To Me: BJP Leader Poonam Mahajan

Mumbai: She may be on the other side of a bitter political divide, but BJP MP Poonam Mahajan does not want to get drawn into any controversy over Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray's comments.

Aditya had told NDTV on Wednesday that the breakdown of the saffron alliance caused a lot of hurt, blaming the BJP for backstabbing a 25-year-old partner.

"Breaking of the alliance was a very hurtful experience for all of us," said Ms Mahajan.

"I don't want to say anything on what Aditya said. He is like a little brother to me. I have seen him grow up in front of my eyes. I have grown up with the Thackeray family. But what has happened is done. We have to move on and work towards our larger goals and vision," she said.

Speaking fondly of her childhood where she, along with Aditya, watched the BJP-Sena partnership grow over the years, Ms. Mahajan said, "I still remember the first time I was going to meet Balasaheb, I got new clothes."

Veteran BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, Poonam's father, had played a key role in forging the saffron alliance and shared a great personal relationship with Sena supremo Bal Thackeray.
