1.63 Lakh Voters Registered Across 219 Polling Stations in Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban District

Jammu: Over 1.63 lakh voters are registered for exercising their right of franchise at 218 polling stations in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) on Tuesday issued the notification for the first phase of Assembly elections in state covering 15 constituencies including two constituencies of Ramban and Banihal in Ramban district on November 25.

"As many as, 163,974 voters including 75,445 female voters can exercise their right of franchise in district Ramban at 218 polling stations", official spokesman said.

"As many as 85,902 voters including 39,647 female voters have been registered for voting in 121 polling booths in assembly constituency of Ramban", he added.

He also confirmed that 78,072 voters including 35,799 female voters in 97 polling booths in Banihal constituency can exercise their right of franchise.

Chenab Valley, which has six Assembly segments spread over the Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts, will go to polls in the first phase of elections, on November 25.

Election Commission had on Saturday decided to go ahead with Assembly polls in the flood-devastated state.

The five phase Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir would see polling on November 25, December 2, 9, 14 and 20.
