Arvind Kejriwal's Saturday plans as Delhi's seventh Chief Minister
New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal who was sworn-in as Delhi's seventh chief minister at a public ceremony at Ramlila Maidan, has his first working day already cut out.

In a gesture that was part of his major promises in the run-up to the December 4 polls, the Aam Aadmi Party chief used public transport to travel from his home in Ghaziabad to the sprawling venue in central Delhi. (Live updates)

The 45-year-old leader has vowed to end what he calls the VIP culture in the national capital, signified by alphabetically-marked security covers and red beacons on vehicles.

Mr Kejriwal had already declared the day to be a working day, with the new Cabinet beginning its day by visiting Mahatma Gandhi's memorial at Raj Ghat.

After paying their tributes to the Father of the Nation, whose ideals of austerity and honesty are claimed as cornerstones of the year-old Aam Aadmi Party, Mr Kejriwal and his ministers headed to the Delhi Secretariat to get down to the brass tacks of governance.

Water, power and corruption in governance are the three areas the new government aims to focus on first.

"The biggest day for the party will be when Jan Lokpal bill will be passed in Delhi, prices of electricity will be reduced and corruption will be removed from the society," AAP's Sanjay Singh said.

The party has promised 700 litres of free water every day to every household in Delhi.

As Chief Minister, Mr Kejriwal is also expected to issue some executive orders on Day 1. For instance, he has promised to assess whether a steep hike in CNG prices effected on Thursday is necessary.

Team Kejriwal has said it will work on Sunday too.
