Thiruvananthapuram:  The number of police personnel in Kerala would be increased considering the work burden on the existing police force, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said.

"A peaceful society is required for the development of the state and the police force should not be over-burdened with responsibilities," he said addressing the passing out parade of personnel of the fourth batch of special armed police at Peroorkada.

The Chief Minister presented prizes to talented police personnel for best performance during training.

A total of 373 persons passed out today after a training that lasted nine months.
