Two persons were today arrested for allegedly duping over 225 farmers in Andhra Pradesh to the tune of several lakhs, police said here.
K Anil Kumar alias Raju (30) and Shaik Arif Pasha (28) were arrested, and two cars, a motorcycle, six mobile phones, two laptops and Rs 71,000 cash were seized from them, they said.
The duo had started a finance company in August last year in the district and taken money, running into lakhs, from 229 farmers after assuring them of returning it with interest, they said.
However, they later closed their company without refunding the money, police said, adding, the accused had duped farmers in Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Khammam and Warangal districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Further investigations are on in the matter, police said.
