Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday announced financial assistance of Rs. 5 crore for flood-ravaged Jammu and Kashmir.

He added that the state has also sent 300 metric tonnes of ready-to-eat packaged food.

According to a statement from the chief minister's office, 145 metric tonnes of food has already been air-lifted by air force personnel.

The nutritious food, which is made of wheat, chana dal, milk powder, oil and sugar, is uncooked and can be consumed by mixing water.

Mr Naidu lauded the mammoth multi-agency rescue efforts underway in Jammu and Kashmir to rescue people trapped in flood-ravaged areas.

The floods have left about 200 dead and thousands stranded.
