Sand mining is banned in Goa as it causes salinity of water. But even when NDTV team filmed openly, nobody blinked an eye. While the private companies who are behind this may profit in the short term, in the long term, though, the impact on environment may be beyond repair.
The State's environment minister nonchalantly denies that this is an organised industry. Funnily enough, the state's power minister is also the environment minister!
