Man burnt alive in Gujarat village over property dispute

Ahmedabad: Tension prevailed in Charrodi village of Sanand taluka near here after a 61-year old man was burnt alive over a property dispute, police said on Tuesday.

"The incident occurred late last night when one Wazir Khan Pathan, a resident of Charrodi village, was invited by his opponents for an out-of-court settlement on an on-going property dispute," they said.

"Following an altercation, they poured kerosene over Pathan and burnt him alive," they said.

Pathan was contesting a court case since long related to a plot in the village, police said.

Four persons accused in the case have been identified as Mukeshji Thakore, Chora Khan Pathan, Sakribhen Thakore and Ramibhen Mukeshji, they said.

A case has been registered in this regard and investigations are underway.

The police have also sought assistance of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Gandhinagar. The agency has begun investigations in the case.
