A 16-year-old allegedly hanged herself at her house on Thursday evening. The girl was a student of class 11 and lived in Maninagar area.
The reason for the suicide is not yet known. The Amraiwadi police lodged a case of accidental death after Stefi, daughter of one Rajesh Christian, was found hanging from the ceiling fan at her house in Sharon Owners society in Maninagar.
The girl was a student of Kalyan Vidyalaya in Maninagar. According to police sub-inspector PN Rathava, who investigated the case, the victim's parents have so far not revealed anything that could point out as to why the child committed suicide.
"The neighbours told us that the girl was alone in the house when the incident happened. She was last seen with her friend who is also a neighbour. Steffi's friend left her at around 6 pm in the evening and when her parents returned they found the house locked from inside," said Rathava. According to police, the girl's parents peeked into her room from the window and found her hanging.
