Power outages add to summer woes in Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow: Unscheduled power cuts added to the woes of people already suffering under intense heat wave, leading to protests against the power department in several districts of Uttar Pradesh.

Demonstrations were held against power outages at various district headquarters, with people shouting slogans and burning effigies of the power department.

Etawah was the hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 46.9 degrees Celsius, the Met department said.

Temperature settled above normal in Jhansi, Agra and Meerut divisions, but declined in Allahabad, Lucknow, Bareilly, Varanasi and Faizabad divisions.
